Now this is going to be a very unique system to haul your fifth wheel trailer down the road with using your fifth wheel rails, but this is going to be a much lighter weight fifth wheel hitch than the typical fifth wheel hitch that you'll see out there. A lot of times it makes it difficult to take that fifth wheel hitch out of your rails. It's pretty heavy. You have to get a second person to even get it out of there and a lot of times people just end up leaving it in their truck and then they're kind of limited as far as how much stuff they can really haul in the back of their bed with that fifth wheel hitch in the way. more

Today we're going to take a look at the Pro Series fifth wheel trailer hitch with the square tube slider. It has a 16,000 pound weight capacity. Now this is a nice sturdy and reliable fifth wheel hitch at an affordable cost and it's perfect for short bed trucks because this hitch has a slider that will move the hitch and the kingpin 10" closer to your tailgate for increased turning clearance, so this will enable your short bed truck to make normal turns during slow speed maneuvers and in narrow spaces without the fear of the trailer's overhang hitting the cab of your vehicle.This does use a rounded slide bar single jaw system which will automatically latch around the trailer's kingpin. It offers improved low management and ride when compared with similar models. The head on this is a nice four-way pivoting head. It helps with the trailer hookup. more

Today on our 2018 Ram 3500 we're going to be taking a look at the Reese OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing prep-package.This is what our Reese 5th Wheel Hitch looks like when it's installed in our truck. This is going to allow us to easily hook up to the king pin on our 5th wheel trailer. A nice thing about this, is this is designed to work with our factory puck system.This curved hitch is going to have a nice wide base. Constructed of forged steel with a nice black powder coat finish that's going to resist any rust or corrosion. Each foot can be easily adjusted to lock into our factory puck system. Our center section allows us to adjust the height of our head by giving us 2-1/2" of adjustability.For our head they've allowed us a have wide opening here at the front that's going to allow us to hook up to our king pin very easily even if we're at an angle. more

Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider Review- Video
Today we're going to be taking a look at the Demco hijacker autoslide. This is a fifth wheel trailer hitch with automatic slider. Part number is DM8550037.Now, the autoslide from Demco is really designed to take a lot of the headaches out of hauling our fifth wheel campers with a short bed truck like this. Essentially, the older styles of slider, every time you needed to maneuver, parking lots, tighter spaces, you had to get our of your truck, release the handle, slide the head back, and then make sure it was locked back in.In this case, that entire function is going to be completely automatic. When we start to maneuver at slow speeds, there's a rack and pinion system right inside the head. The pin box is going to be captured between these two plates, and as we turn it, it automatically rotates rearward. more

Today on our 2015 GMC Sierra 2500, we're going to be taking a look at the inaudible 00:00:04 hijacker auto slide fifth wheel trailer hitch. Part number DM850034.This hitch is going to provide you with 18,000 pounds gross weight rating, it's going to give you 14 inches of travel to the very back, it's going to have a single jaw system which makes for a tighter fit around your king pin.To activate the jaw system, when hooking up to your trailer, you simply pull the safety pin and clip, slide your handle out, and you'll see how the draw spreads apart. Once you lock the handle open, when you back your king pin in, or back up to your trailer, it's going to spread this apart just a little bit. What it's going to do, it's going to put pressure on this side, which is going to release the handle lock and allow the jaw to close.You're going to have guide rails here and that's what sets this apart from others. These guide rails can be adjusted depending on the size of your pin box. All you would do is once you have your pin box, or you're attached to your fifth wheel, you're going to take these rails, going to loosen them up, slide them in, up against your pin box and then tighten them back into place. more

Demco Recon 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Demco recon 5th wheel trailer hitch, this is for above bed rails and offers a 21,000 pound capacity, part number is DM-8550043. The recon 5th wheel from Demco is designed to make your hauling a lot easier, and also a lot quieter.Basically we have a light weight design, that's something I like about this one as compared to a lot of the other 5th wheels you're gonna see out there on the market. Got a pin here we can remove and we can take this out of the truck in two pieces, so really only gonna need one guy.Now a lot of the other traditional style 5th wheels, it's usually a two man job to get everything in place. And when it comes to weight capacities the hitch offers a vertical load limit of 5,250 pounds, so that's gonna be the maximum weight we can have pressing downward on our head, and our gross trailer weight rating, which is gonna be the weight of our trailer and anything we might load up in it, that's gonna be 21,000 pounds.Of course you do want to keep in mind you don't want to exceed the capacity of your vehicle, so whatever your trucks rated for, or whatever the hitch is rated for, which ever one is lower that's the ones you want to use.To make it quieter they use polyurethane brushings, we've got one on the head here so we don't have to deal with that noise as we're going down the road, and also on that side to side pivot, so we get a really nice quiet operating system you'll see that in the reviews.Also to add to that ease of use, not only is it easy to get it in and out of the truck, but it's easy to connect to your camper. It's gonna pivot left and right, and forward and back. So if your camper's on a little bit of an angle, with traditional style 5th wheels it was kinda hard to get those connected, you had to get everything level just so it would slide in just right. more

The base here is just gonna slide into the puck system, you use four turn levers to lock them down.Now the head itself is gonna bolt to the leg assembly, and we're gonna have four height adjustments so we can match up to our trailer and make sure we have adequate clearance. And our head is gonna be adjustable all the way from 13 up to 17 inches.Our hitch is gonna have a full 360 degree contact going around the kingpin so we don't have to worry about it rattling around. And unlike the slide bar style jaws, this is gonna make sure that it makes full contact all the way around the kingpin. more

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled Fifth Wheel Hitch with slider, part number RP30144.Here's what our fifth wheel and slider looks like installed. Now, the reason you're gonna want this particular fifth wheel and slider compared to other options on the market is that if your Ford truck -- such as this one -- has the factory rail system, this drops right in with no modification to the vehicle required at all.Also, you're going to need a slider if your truck does not have an eight-foot bed. This particular truck has a six and three-quarter-foot bed.As we make sharp turns or do tight corners or pull in to gas stations, we run the risk of having the overhang of our fifth wheel contacting the cab of our truck. By having a slider in place, we move the overhang further back, giving us the necessary clearance to make those maneuvers safely without damaging our truck or our trailer.Compared to other options on the market, this one seems easier, to me, to be able to install and remove from the truck if need be -- if we want full access to our bed -- because it is lighter weight. Now, even though this is a lighter-weight unit than some other options on the market, it doesn't sacrifice quality or durability while saving weight. We still have the same capacities as other options as well.This fifth wheel hitch and slider have a capacity of an 18,000 pound max gross trailer weight rating, and a 4,500 pound max pin weight rating. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 we're gonna be taking a look, and showing you how to install, the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider, part number BWRVK3270.So here's what the Patriot looks like once we have it installed. Now this is gonna allow us to tow our 5th wheel trailer down the road safely. Now, like our truck, if you ever towed with a short bed truck, you do know that going around corners with a 5th wheel trailer does get a little squirrel-y, but luckily, if we flip this lever here, we have a slider that's built in, that's gonna give us that much more extra room, and allow us to maneuver around corners with ease. Now, it's gonna slide the full 12", getting that trailer away from our cab so we don't have to worry about crushing it.Now, our Patriot is gonna have a dual jaw mechanism. Now that's gonna have a full 360 degree kingpin contact, and it's gonna be a lot more quiet than that slider style jaw, where that bar is gonna go across and make contact that way. Now, the fully articulating head is gonna reduce all that noise, and reduce chucking while you're driving down the road.We're gonna have three different height adjustments, from 17" to 19", and that's gonna be nice so you can dial in that perfect level stance when you're towing your trailer down the road. more
